Historic Newspaper Resources
Looking for a resource for historic newspaper articles? There are a few options. The Marydean Martin Library at NSC has several databases for historic newspapers: Historic NY Times database; Historic L.A. Times database; American Periodical Series; and the Newspaper Source database. Be sure to use the advanced search features in these databases to narrow your search to a specific time period.
You can also try "Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers," an archive created and maintained by the NEH: http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/
You can also try Google News' Advanced Search (news.google.com - see below). Enter the dates you need, locations, and the name of the newspaper (if you know it). Depending on the newspaper, some articles are free, while others are not.
